Air Canada recently opened its Montreal headquarters to young women aged 15 and older, offering them a unique opportunity to explore the diverse career paths available in the aviation industry.

This annual autumn open house, aimed at inspiring female students, introduced participants to a wide range of roles beyond the expected pilot and flight attendant positions, showcasing fields such as finance, supply chain management, maintenance planning, IT, law, cargo operations, and branding.

Throughout the day, attendees engaged with Air Canada’s accomplished female professionals, learning about each department’s role in the airline’s success.

They also took a guided tour of the Air Canada museum, highlighting the airline’s 85-year legacy, followed by an up-close look at aircraft in the hangar.

“We’re passionate about sharing our work with young women who may not initially consider aviation as a career,” said Capucine Michaud, Director of Cabin Standards and Maintenance Program at Air Canada.

“While aviation is often perceived as a male-dominated field, we hope these students leave today knowing they have a place in this dynamic industry if they choose it.”

Air Canada’s commitment to empowering young women in aviation extends beyond this event. Since 2019, the airline has funded the Captain Judy Cameron Scholarships, awarded through the Northern Lights Aero Foundation to support aspiring female aviators.

Earlier this year, Air Canada also partnered with seven Canadian colleges to provide financial assistance for women and visible minorities studying to become Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs).

The airline was a key sponsor of the 2024 Ninety-Nines International Conference and the Canadian Women in Aviation (CWIA) conference, reflecting its dedication to diversity and inclusivity within the industry.
